Missionary in Taiwan

I left to serve my LDS mission 21 years ago! Man what a blessing it was to serve the people of Taiwan! I had some challenges (the food, the language, the smells, some companionships, the very blunt Taiwanese people...), but when I think back on my mission it's the joys and blessings that pop in my mind first. I was so blessed I had the opportunity I had to serve the people of Taiwan.

Bing Shop

There's a new bing shop here in Vegas!
Bing in Chinese means ice. Basically, it's a very
fancy shaved ice bowl with fresh fruit on top!

Happy Chinese New Year

To celebrate Chinese New Year
Danny and I ate Beef Noodle Soup.
It was spicy hot!
I was able to talk all about my mission in Taiwan
to the youth in my ward and I loved it!
I love talking about my mission!
I shared about the many trials I went through...
Food trials, language trials, companion trials, cockroach trials...
Then I shared the biggest lesson I learned was the difference
between sacrifice and obedience and how much more
blessed my companion and I were when we were strictly obedient.
Then I shared this paragraph from my mission call...
"The Lord will reward the goodness of your life.
Greater blessings and more happiness than you have yet
experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully
serve the Lord in this labor of love among his children."
which makes me cry every time I read it, because it's so true!
So I embarrassed my kids!
Then I talked about the many blessings that I've been
blessed with from serving a mission. And even though it was
hard and I had lots of trials when I think back on my mission
the first thoughts that come to mind are the blessings and joy from serving.
Then I shared my testimony in Chinese.
I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to serve a mission!

Haley's Homecoming

When she left 18 months ago.
We tried to recreate the before pic.,
but we had two sick kids that weren't in the mood.
We should have had Haley take off her heels,
to show how much the kids have grown.
Welcome Home Haley!
