Van- 10th Grade Football

Van had never played football before, but the football coach saw him at school one day and asked him why he wasn't on the team? The coach told him to be on the field the next day.
He was able to play in the last 4 games of the season and even played a couple JV games.

I found my favorite thing about UT when I went to Van's football dinner and they blessed the food. What a difference the influence in Utah is than it was in Las Vegas. Some parents had asked me why Van had never played football before and I told them that the influence in Vegas football was not what I wanted for him. The coaches in Vegas start swearing at the kids, even using the F word towards them by 8th grade football. The head coach here in UT has a rule if any of the kids swear they need to do 10 pushups, what a huge difference in influence between the 2 places. Van says the boys here will pray before the game, not the coaches the boys on the football team, it's so awesome!

I think so many people take for granted how blessed we are to live here.

Big boy Van on the sideline talking to the coach, #60.

Mom & Walt cheering for you.

Isn't that an amazing view?!

Apparently, Van got a tackle, but I was trying to turn on my video and missed it, bummer!

Turf burns on the last game.

Van Plays Flag Football

Van is not into playing team sports,
but his friend and coach talked him into playing
flag football for the school team.
He had two games last weekend and they played awesome
they even won both games! The second game was head to head
the entire time. They had to play 4 over times. Anyway,
Van got a touchdown, a couple interceptions,
accidentally possibly broke a teammates elbow and
mostly blocked a lot of catches. (Since he's quite a bit
taller than the other players). It was fun watching him play!
